Late Stage Capitalism got something right!

Did you just Cathy Newman me?

I did not say you had to be any of those things to be poor. You can also be someone who just did not value wealth over other things. You can be someone who unlucky. You could have had health issues that prevented you from applying your talents. However, when people do get ahead, it often is due to their intelligence, skill, talent, or hardwork.

I was born poor. My parents worked full time while finishing their degrees and raising 4 kids. I did not see them till 9 at night most of the time. By the time I was in highschool, they finally had made their way into the middle class, but they did not have the resources to pay for my college. I did that through a combination of scholarships, loans, and working full time as a janitor and cashier while in school. I am physically handicapped on top of all that. I made it to where I am today because Im smarter than the average bear, I had the resolve to persist through adversity, and I had parents who kept a stable enough environment for me growing up even though they were as poor and overworked as anyone else in this country. None of that was taken unfairly at the expense of someone else. None the result of some privilege I had that 90% of people who do worse did not have.
