Latest project - Mountain home with a rooftop garden.

I started playing on a new server and wanted to try something a little different to what I usually build. Lately I’ve been building upwards, 4+ floors, bright stone and quartz combinations…. But then I found this perfect little plateau and knew it called for something that blended into the environment.

Originally I had a huge blue pane of glass in the centre of the home, so I covered it with the vertical leaves to break up the space a little. In retrospect this worked to not only blend the home into the environment, but create a nice transition for the rooftop farm. The farm on the roof left the front yard clutter free with enough room for the pond, so in the end it worked out perfectly. I set out at the start intending to make the rooftop garden, it really just manifested itself because I was feeling too lazy to build more than one story.

For the roof I considered using oak wood, but couldn’t find it within myself to do more tree farming. So I did the easiest thing and sheared a few stacks of leaves to see how they’d go as an alternative… and yeah I think it turned out quite lovely. I kept as many trees as possible to further ‘blend’ the home into the mountainside. Considering how large the home is, it really doesn’t stick out at all from a distance.

I’m usually my own worst critic, never feeling like I’m finished and always adding more to the build. This time though I’m honestly really pleased with how it turned out. Now it’s just time to furnish it!
