[Laura Kuenssberg] Chatter this morning about some kind of big statement from the PM - No 10 sources say this is NOT happening - getting on plane, who knows what will have happened by time we land....

As others have rightly pointed out, we've got to be careful of jumping on the hype train here.

Let's assume there will be some big statement and it isn't bluff.

Carefully prepped speech to the EU.

Set out approach and say "we won't back down". Would maybe get some of the press behind her but don't really see how it'd help negotiations at all.

Salisbury update.

Been in the news lately with suspects being ID'd. Maybe more progress there.

Resignation.

Fingers crossed. Perhaps after yesterday she has finally realised her dream Chequers plan just isn't going to happen and that she's run out of ideas/support. Liddington would have to take over temporarily as de-facto deputy but no idea who would take over. Leadership challenge would be messy now...

Snap election. This'd be interesting. There's a few outcomes...

  • Labour win on a manifesto of soft Brexit. Satisfies Leave voters and could be seen as a reasonable compromise.

  • Labour win and oppose Brexit. Either call for a 2nd referendum or delay/stop Article 50. Come on Labour, please can you just do this now. Conference would be great to do this. Might also open up possibility for Lab/Lib coalition if seats are an issue. Brexiteers implode.

  • Tories sneak in same as last time, struggle to maintain power.

  • Tories win an increased majority, if people actually still trust Maybot after all this.
