Clubs are playing friendlies to prepare the team to season and they are resting players who need a rest after season. You have to understand that some players played too much games in short period of time in CL/Europa League. The whole COVID epidemy had an impact on football calendar.

Nations cup is not treated as friendlies even if its actually meaningless tournament. Players and coaches are rated based by their work which makes gives them pressure to perform better than in friendly match. The whole tournament shouldnt exist if we consider what's happening in the world with COVID. Simple as that.

Besides who cares about it. Seriously. There are 3 tournaments. Copa America, Euro and World Club. Nothing else should matter. Especially in situation where we cannot go to watch matches live. Zaniolo is in danger of ending the careet because of this shitty forced tournament. Im actually surprised that uefa didnt demand to play games in Qatar in Nations Cup. That would be even better!
