Lauryn Hill And Jeru The Damaja Get In A Heated Debate About All White People Being Wicked.

No one seems to think it's odd when it's constantly preached that White men control and run everything .

I vividly remember being in a queer studies class in college and the professor talking to the class about "intersectionality". When touching on class and income and control, she asked the class who the richest group in America is. She was obviously queuing them to say "White people" or "White men", but I beat the choir by half a second with "Jews".

I was the correct one. Jewish people are the richest racial group in America, by far.

I was approached after class by several people who wanted to confront me about my answer. They were rageful about a fact. The truth.

It seems that talking about White control and ownership of major levers of power in society is a sanctioned narrative and conversation. We're allowed to talk about the numbers and percentages of White presidents, senators, supreme Court judges, governors, CEOs, CFOs, police, actors in movies or tv, etc etc. But mentioning the similar statistics around Jewish representation in major levers of power is verboten.

What an odd thing to say.

So considering the fact that this specific comment chain is about the concept of White people controlling and owning things and then someone else replying that corporations control and own things and then you respond with something that many people would infer that you were basically implying that White people do run and control shit anyway because "corporations are run by (white) people" -- his comment is perfectly on topic and very much adds to the discussion.

Maybe this is not what you meant to imply at all.

Maybe you were making a completely vacuous statement that was almost completely off topic if there was no racial implication. But I and many other people reading this will be giving you credit for more than that and will assume you were actually trying to be on topic and make sense.

So, if his interpretation of what you wrote is incorrect, then it's actually you who has made the odd, unhelpful, off topic comment.
