Lawmakers order Army to create separate fitness standard for combat specialties

Fully support this as tired as I am of hearing about the constantly changing fitness standards.

While I fully recognize how niche my MOS is, we have serious problems with small soldiers. Have you ever tried to pick up a restrained, resistant prisoner off the ground when one of the people on the team doesn't have the strength to do it? Your gonna drop the prisoner and worse case scenario on their neck. Even in training we see this happen with anywhere between 5-10% of our soldiers. In emergency situations I don't have the luxury of picking my dream team for a forced cell extraction and once it starts I can't always re-arrange members of my team if they can't pull their weight.

What about riot formations where the shield is nearly the size of the soldier holding it? Even with a shield wall that meets all our TTPs a 100 lb soldier can't barely hold the shield and is going to break formation if they get any decent amount of resistance.

They are proportionally strong for their size, but the prisoners don't scale down just because they happen to be smaller.
