Back in the day when I played WoW religiously, I’d agree with you. I was def one that showed up every day to raid, put in my time, traded in my points and rolled for the best gear. I believed the best gear was only reserved for the most dedicated AND required that dedication for months.

But I have a newborn now, a full time job and other adulting responsibilities that make farming for gear on the level that Massive requires outside the GE impossible.

Fortunately I get to play, on average, approximately 2 hours every other day. Some weeks more or less than others. I predominately do the daily and weekly legendaries. After the first GE, I had not had a single Classified gear piece drop because the rate is so low.

If they increased the drop rate, I’d also agree with you. The game is very generous right now during the GE and wouldn’t be completely punishing outside it. But that’s not the case.

As a result, it’s kind of a farm-during-the-GE-or-you’re-SOL. And when the “stakes” are that high, players will inevitably be frustrated when they can’t complete at least one set. This would help them do just that and give those who dedicated their time during the GE a feeling of accomplishment; which in return I would hope, would keep them coming back to earn the others or do the harder content.
