I want to learn how to think outside of the box.

You need to want to fail, and want to learn from that failure.

The only difference between failure and thinking outside the box is whether it worked or not. Its either something that is a remix on an existing idea or a bizarre combination of other ideas... and more often than not it all stems from previous ideas that were failures.

If you can begin to enjoy the viewpoint of failure or imperfection, then you will become more open to new ideas and experimentation. Laugh at ideas that are so wild they are wrong, then try to tame them into useful ones.

The only difference between you and someone creative or witty is the amount of time they have been happy to be imperfect, and gotten good at finding where the thin line of failure and creation is (or convincing you that their failures were not so bad!)

Now, i wonder if that makes sense, or if its just a wacky representation of my thoughts... but next time i talk to someone about this topic i'll be more concise and convincing... and that's sort of just how it works
