I want to learn to play squash. Where do I start?

1.) Find a court In my research for Boston/Cambridge I found The Hemingway Gymnasium and Boston Racquet Club which have some pretty nice squash courts. Be sure to find out how you can join these places (especially a racquet club it'll be a big resource for a beginner as you will find many experienced and serious players). But just in case the membership fee for a racquet club is to high (and some racquet clubs even make you pay for the court hourly) look for a gym.

2.) Exercise It also may not seem like much but squash is a tough sport and you can't get tired easily, so start doing cardio and going for a run DAILY. It isn't something you can just jump into.

3.) Equipment Ball: Since you're a beginner your best bet is to start with a beginner ball. It's oversized and will help you train your hand-eye coordination and reaction time. You can buy one here Or at your local sporting goods store.

Eye Protection: Since you're just starting out eye protection is a must. Even people who have been playing for years use it so don't think it will make you look inferior on the court. Check out eyewear from HEAD or Dunlop.

Court Shoes: Hi-Tec and Prince make reliable shoes. You will need shoes with thicker soled shoes if you don't want to injure your foot. So with that said do not wear your Killshots or running shoes.

Racquet: I don't know much about racquets ( its really personal preference to me) but keep in mind they are very durable and you will throw it against the wall and floor often. Buy a bigger head racquet for power over control, again you are a beginner and smaller head racquets are for advanced players who value control.

Stay motivated and I will promise you that all of your hard work and exercise will pay off. It's a fun game and a great workout. PM me if you have any questions.
