Leather IWB holster for EDC (Shield). Should I be concerned?

Let me preface by saying I am in no way a professional. Do not take my opinion as fact. It is merely my personal experience and preference.

I carry exclusively in leather holsters. I use a leatherworker whom I met due to association with a state gun rights group.

He hand crafts quality leather holsters. Ones that if taken care of will likely last longer than my mortal life. They are beautiful and always have reinforced openings for IWB.

I would never skimp on a leather holster. Quality takes money. I'm not rich by any means but I will not sacrifice my comfortability and my safety for a few damn dollars.

That being said. I carry a hammer fired firearm. So long as I ever carry a hammer fired firearm I will use leather exclusively for OWB open carry and IWB concealed. If I ever carry a striker fired firearm, like your shield, I would opt for a kydex holster.

That's my personal preference. I feel safe holstering my hammer fired firearm because not only is the holster quality and retains its shape but I can also thumb the hammer as I do so. With a striker fired firearm I cannot do that.

I'll end by saying most store bought holsters are unfortunately crap.
