Leduc mayor wants photo radar on QE2

Which could be easily done, and wouldn't be much more difficult than repaving the road the same way it is now. That's not really an issue. Pretty much every relevant issue has already been pointed out. People are not going to speed no matter what, the people doing 140 now are not going to suddenly start going faster. Take a look at the Coquihalla Highway in BC. It's a much steeper, windier mountain highway with far more wildlife, and yet raising the speed limit made the highway safer. Alberta could certainly learn a lot from British Columbia in this area. Coming from British Columbia ., Alberta's vehicle inspections are simply a joke. There are many vehicles driving around Alberta roads that would never pass an inspection in British Columbia. A lot of people in Alberta drive around all winter on all season tires, while B.C. actually has regulations that require winter tires on certain highways. It is not at all unfeasible to have a speed limit of 130 on the QE2. I agree that 150 is definitely too high, as you have pointed out there are probably a lot of vehicles that have tires that are not capable of those speeds. Mine are. It would not be that difficult to require higher rated tires. Honestly, tires not capable of 150km/hr shouldn't be allowed on the road. If the speed limit was raised to 130, all those people driving 140 on the highway now would still be doing 140, and the road would be a lot safer. Just like the video on the front page today points out, having some people driving at 140 and some people driving at 110 is far more dangerous than if everybody was going 130.
