Is leetcode really necessary?

Take it from an old fart like me:

I didn’t do any leetcode for my job and I love it. We have some of the best talent in the Midwest because we care about what experience you have, not what silly questions you can do

Also, when you adjust for the amount of YOUNG people complaining that they can’t find jobs, old people don’t complain disproportionately—people who can’t find jobs complain regardless of their age

And I never implied it’s required to work 60 hour weeks anywhere but companies like when people are CAPABLE of doing it. What happens when shit hits the fan and you find a MAJOR defect? Is a 25 or 55 year old going to have the energy to stay at work all night all week? Happens rarely, but at least in my industry (Big Data) if shit like that hits the fan and a customer loses money because of it (which has never happened because of dedicated people fixing it, but is a possibility) then your company is fucked. Again, it’s rare but it can quite literally be the difference between a multimillion dollar customer and not.

I get the feeling you’re an engineer in your 20s who is looking for validation for getting a “prestigious” job by spending your free time grinding leetcode instead of doing fun things with your life
