I'm sorry, but attunement HAD to go.
It just had to. It was catastrophic to end game raiding long term.
The player base knew it, Blizzard knew it, the guilds raiding who weren't server 1st (who would just poach out players who were attuned by the rest of the guilds) knew it...
Yeah, they were awesome.
One of the highlights of my WoW carrier was the timed Shattered Halls run in blues on my hunter with a Warrior tank.
It was one of the hardest things I have done in WoW.
And yet it was necessary to raid. Which meant Guilds needed to have tanks and healers willing to run EVERY recruit through it.
Imagine that today?
A healer leaves. You can't find one that's already attuned, so you need to pick up a newer recruit.
But you can't, because first you'd have to run him through 5 man content for days and multiple quest lines and older content before being able to even trial them.
Yeah, that's a super good idea for raiding!
Just fucking no.
I loved BC. I remember quite fondly the thrill of walking into the Black Temple for the first time.
I remember the struggle to attune for SSC.
I remember getting shit on by the Sunwell trash the first night we step foot in there.
But I'm not that person any more. I don't have time to farm for 10 hours a week just to raid. I did back then. It was no problem. I was 8 years younger.
I grew older.
The game has grown up with me.
WoD had major flaws. But it did a lot of things right too. I have high hopes for Legion. I feel like Blizzard have the capability and now the knowledge of what does work.
I feel like WoD was very experimental with a lot of the things they tried. And those experiments often feel flat.
Anyway...
I still dug the Arthas arc more than the Illdian/Kael one. So Wrath is prob my fav expansion.
Wrath>BC>Cata>MoP=WoD.
I'd like Legion to be ahead of Cata.
That's all I want from Blizz. Not sure it's possible to rekindle the magic of stepping into the Black Temple or ICC for the first time.
But they can make it fucking better than Dragon Soul, HFC, and SoO.
