Is it legal to ship a firearm to myself from one state to another (NY to CA) without a FFL?

So #3 doesn’t answer my question either. I moved from NY to CA 2 years ago and read it was illegal transporting firearms across state lines, so I didn’t bring them when I drove cross country. It was something about each states laws are different and if I got pulled over in one with shit laws I could be fucked. So I left them locked up at my parents house.

Now reading the ATF FAQ it says it’s perfectly legal to do that as long as they’re legal in the state I’m moving to.

So in any case I would be mailing them back to my permanent residence in CA from NY where they’ve been stored at my parents house for 2 years. I’m going to visit next month.
