Ironically, it wouldn't even be part of the class if not for other fundamentalists murdering people over cartoons. It's a civics course that touches on freedom of expression in France, Charlie Hebdo might be a relevant topic. Furthermore, he allowed Muslims students to opt-out to avoid offending them. The parent who brought this to the attention of a wider audience, and exchanged text messages with the killer before the murder, didn't even have their child in class at the time. Let's not sugar coat it, it's a pathetic man angry about a cartoon who set into motion a murder. Ironically, again, this will likely only reinforce the idea that such education is needed.
