Why is leisure travel seen as a "young people" thing to do?

I'm mid-40s, and wouldn't consider travelling, for a variety of reasons.

100% of the people my age who would solotravel are not me. I have short hair, voted for Donald Trump, and served in the military and am proud of it (and glad to be out, did one tour).

Anti-America and anti-male is a huge issue worldwide, as I know from having already traveled to 25 countries. I did that as a young man, early 20s.

I really, after months of lurking this sub and looking at cheaper (hostel) travel options, don't feature myself ever solo travelling.

Old men, such as myself, belong in hotels and at tourist spots. People don't like middle-aged men gawking around at things, and are suspicious of it, worldwide. The problem is compounded now due to extreme politics.

I probably can't stay in a hostel and listen to a bunch of 23-year-olds go on and on about Trump and how bad America is. I'm not even a Republican, far from it. But it's ridiculous everywhere, I'm not going to actually coop myself up in a travel situation with people who are proudly hostile to me. I'm not that much of a fool.

No, it's not ignorable. I don't have long hair, or educated-liberal credentials, or a hate-on for the US. Yes, I would listen to age-gap or political gap.

It's obvious to me the world is completely hostile, and I have no desire to spend some time around people who are going to vent their frustrations and social misconceptions on me. No thanks. I'm the last safe target for the hateful, the white male. Yes, I'm that. I'm a person that says white men are the hated single factor on the planet, and I will take zero percent bullshit over it.

So, to avoid ending up in jail, dead, or kicked out of hostels worldwide, I just can't travel. Shrug. sucks. But, I didn't make this world, i just live in it.

However, r/solotravel does give you an idea of how you might avoid that problem while still being allowed to enjoy the planet like everyone else. Maybe someday I can see something, just won't interact with the locals and avoid interaction with my fellow travelers and their silly and hateful ideas.

That's what I'm here for.
