Leonardo DiCaprio attacks Republican presidential candidates on climate change | “We should not have a candidate who doesn’t believe in modern science to be leading our country,” he said.

On one hand, I hear what you're saying - When you have the option between two "big tent" political parties that each consist of various coalitions that want different things but are forced to unite as a Democrat or Republican because there simply is no other option and the "new aristocracy" that's formed out of party leadership on both sides is a huge fucking mess. That's obviously a problem.

But when we're choosing between the lesser of two evils - right now we have to - I think the Democrats handle the country better. I refer to u/FLTA's post from awhile back that explains it - with numbers and citations - better than I could about how Congress votes, and who's voting for bad shit.

If you want money out of politics (which would straighten the right wing out, frankly) if you want politics out of your bedroom, if you want the endless war and military adventurism to stop, if you think we should leave a cleaner world for our children than we received from our parents, then chances are, the Democrats are the closest you'll get to common-sense reasonable 21st century values right now. (To me, anyway, I don't expect everyone to share my values.)

I wish there was less ... terrible on the side of the right, but it has been thoroughly taken over by moneyed interests, and the only legitimate pushback on this comes from the left who are forced to work with the DNC - for now.

The whole thing's too complicated and won't be fixed overnight. You take the gerrymandering out of Congressional districts and kill the money funnel into politics, and we might have a chance when it comes to third, fourth, and fifth parties that more closely represent their voters interests. The GOP is trying to see that this can't and won't happen (despite what you hear from their voters) the DNC doesn't, and the difference is very plain when it comes to who votes on what.
