I actually kind of got into One Piece this way. I got interested when I heard about there was going to be a timeskip in OP. I then decided okay, I will start reading from the timeskip and then start from the beginning while I read the latest chapters weekly. This quickly devolved into me just reading from Marineford. And unsurprisingly I fell off because I had no attachment to the world or the characters, I had no idea what they'd been through.

Then I lost interest for a few years and then I started to do the same thing around Whole Cake and read a few of the current chapters but then I said you know what? Fuck this and I started from the beginning and read all of OP up to WCI in like a week.
