Now, they made the big brain decision to campaign in the American southeast/Mid-Atlantic durin' the peak of hurricane season and paid dearly for that mistake, but I digress.

Now, there was a Canadian invasion in September 1814. It failed so miserably I reckon it's a national embarrassment that got scrubbed from the high school history books. Which I guess is why every mapleback I converse with erroneously talks about sackin' DC. Over 11,000 Anglo-Canadians came bearing down into upstate New York, with Royal Navy support on Lake Champlain. In their way was a ragtag group of US navy sloops and schooners and gunboats and about 6,000 infantry. Half of said infantry was Adirondack and Green Mountain hillbillies. The end result was about 1,000 Anglo-Canadians killed, wounded, and captured and the defeat of the Royal Navy. They tucked tail and run like scalded dogs back into Canada.
