Let’s not forget the most important principle that gave us cryptocurrency: Decentralization.

I find a lot of people hear there is money to be made and their main goal is to increase their bank balances. From that perspective, it doesn’t matter where these coins came from, what they represent, where they are going. I don’t talk to anyone about crypto much anymore (except here) because not many people are actually interested in what it really is. Anyone in the past who has been genuinely curious, I have pointed them in the direction of a few bits of literature on the origins of money and our current money system. A grand total of 2 people bothered to find out, and wouldn’t you know, they found the rabbit hole themselves and didn’t need to ask anymore questions. Both are long term crypto hodlers.

If you aren’t interested in how money actually works, you won’t be interested in decentralization either. It’s going to come down education for the masses if we truly expect a decentralized system to flourish. I always suggest, to anyone who wants to talk about money, to go look up what fractional reserve banking is all about. They are always jaw drop shocked. Grown adults with mortgages, who have absolutely no idea. I was there too once upon a time, and once I had thoroughly researched everything money, and then bitcoin, it was a no brainer. Haven’t looked at money the same way again. Obviously, we live in a world where we need money to live, and I’ve never been in a position to invest large amounts in cryptocurrencies (kids, house, responsibilities), and I have fucked up my holdings along the way, but this is the future. I have no doubts about this. I find rather than mentioning investing in crypto to anyone, suggesting they find out where money comes from has a bigger impact.
