Let's chat about the freak-out we all just had and how we could prevent it in the future.

New jersey has a social media policy. A NJ mason could be reprimanded for their posting habits.

When we as masons speak face to face our words fly up and are lost to time except in the minds of those you are speaking to. There are no eavesdroppers if you take the time to guard yourself, but that isn't the point.

A forum...my thoughts remain below: Words without thought based on impulse remain here until the server gets wiped...for all to see or said person deletes the post once they come to their senses.

I would never speak about a lodge issue with a group of brethren in a public setting. This is like going to a coffee house, setting up a table and discussing things for all to hear without governing your voice. It is irresponsible. It is emotional. It is impulsive and the text is in print...not speeding off to oblivion at 750 mph.

I get that social media is great for complaining, bitching, motivating or whatever one wants to call it, but in our profession, I personally think we need to focus, assessment and then act before running to reddit.

Having said all that, I was one of the people who thought the post was a troll. However, the anonymous posting like this is not out of the realm of possibility based on the actions of a jurisdiction or two over the past 6 months. The only difference is that we had edicts to back up our disproval.
