People can’t easily relate to certain things because their backgrounds are different.

That’s fucking nonsense.

Prejudice is not exclusive to color. And experiencing prejudice is not exclusive to people of color.

A major problem with these types of arguments stems from people being completely ignorant of where racism even comes from. They’ve been told what to think, and not taught why.

The why is the most important part. And the why is also the most uncomfortable conversation to have.

If you’re “white” and you don’t think you’ve ever experienced much of the same type of prejudice that most black Americans have experienced, then you don’t understand what the fuck racism even is.

And no, that doesn’t include police brutality. Police brutality is a separate issue that sometimes includes racism. But racism isn’t why police brutality exists. And there’s a verifiable shit ton of research to back that up.
