let's be real

HAHAHAHA no. Primary care docs made what they make today but before adjusting for inflation...meaning that they made a lot more than they do now. My parents are both primary care and, while they earned a lot less than they deserved (as all PCPs did and do) they earned a good living. Dad made 300kish usually and mom in Peds made usually around 200-250k, and in his best year (read: extremely overworked) my Dad made ~500k; all were well deserved salaries for how extremely hard they worked to run their private practice office. With insurance "reform" from Obama they started to make almost nothing and were lucky to clear 100-150k in the past 5-10 years. They and my brother and I are basically living off of their nest-egg savings rather than continued income nowadays, because for most patients they easily lose money. They still see plenty of patients but mostly as charity work (though they never tell their whiny patients that) because they seriously do lose money on like 70% of their patients.
