Uhh...no.

The Renaissance happened a few hundred years before America became a country, and isn't really related to our founding principals. Our founding principals come from the Age of Enlightenment and it's principles and was actually in conflict with the monarchistic values of the Christian nations of the time. America itself was founded with the goal of getting out from under the thumb of one such nation, France beheaded the ruler of theirs.

Christian values have been tempered by the secular western values of the scientific revolution and the Age of Enlightenment. It's more like the secular values in western civilization has their religious beast muzzled and chained up in the back yard while in the Middle East the secular values are pretty much non-existant and their religious beast is running loose fucking shit up.

I'm really not trying to end up like them, so let's make sure we keep ours under control and in the back yard where it belongs while keeping theirs from hopping the fence onto our property at the same time. Their culture should serve as a warning to us because at one point in time their culture was much more civilized, and at points in history moreso than ours. The lesson of the Middle East for Americans is that religion run amuk ruins liberty, freedom, and civilization...and we're not impervious to it happening to us as well under the banner of a cross instead of a crescent moon.
