and there are other types of people who are more family oriented and have healthy relationships and boundaries with both their immediate family and extended family and want to have their spouses be a part of that. there is nothing wrong with that. it only becomes a problem in dysfunctional families and when the spouses aren’t being given proper priority and being defended.

everything else you’ll hear is a generalization, especially on this sub where people form a picture of entire cultures and people based on anecdotal posts from frustrated people.
