Let's talk about that Planetside thing.

Why is it not okay to be mad when someone is genuinely mistreated without being called the center of outrage culture?

You have a poor definition of mistreatment. He was banned from a message board for making a crude joke and they offered him an alternative.

Why is it okay for someone to do English homework for making a dumb joke?

You seem to be confused. He didn't have to do a damn thing. He could have just stayed banned. They offered to let him come back to the sub if he did something else.

He also could have just said fucking no and went on with his life.

You talk about free speech, but it's clear you don't respect the concept.

Ummm...fuck you? I understand the concept, but I also understand that it's a relationship between you and your particular government. Not you and Reddit. Not you and Ellen Pao. Not you and me. Not you and your ISP.

So unless he got locked up in prison for making that fucking joke, talking about "Free speech" is the most asinine thing you can do. It's why Ghazi makes fun of "Freeze Peach" - because for all the defending people do of the First Amendment, it would be awful good if they understood how it fucking worked.

Reddit is a private space owned by an LLC. It's their servers. They offer you the ability to contribute publicly under rules. They allow people to create separate sub-communities with their own rules that extend past Reddit's own rules. Violate the sub-communities rules, and they can do what they want, up to banning you. Violate Reddit's rules, and you get banned from the site.

I don't want people who feel like they can't make a joke, that I'm exempt from...well, being treated like anyone else.

I have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

What's orange and sounds like a parrot? A carrot.

See, that's a joke. It's not a very funny one, but if you're trans-gendered and you don't appreciate somebody making fun of your very difficult lifestyle, neither was his.

The difference is, mine doesn't propagate negative views of anybody's lifestyle that can lead to a culture that denies them essential rights and freedoms and subjects them to ostracism, violence, and occasionally death.

So personally, I think my unfunny joke is fucking better. And again, he didn't get locked in a fucking gulag. He got banned from a sub-reddit. I'm banned from four or five. He had a option to get himself unbanned, and he fucking cried about it instead of doing it.

And everybody else, including apparently you, acted like they didn't have an ounce of common fucking sense, and decided they wanted to tell the mods of /r/planetside how to run their fucking community, which is the same shit they decry when people want to tell mods of other places not to allow racist/sexist/homophobic bullshit.

Yes, I'm calling you a fucking hypocrite.

Is that your idea of something positive?

It's not fucking about you. You don't speak for everyone in the fucking TG community.

I'm sure there are gay men who don't give a fuck about faggot jokes. You know what, I still worry about it. My parents couldn't tell their friends or my extended family about my sexuality. I know I couldn't bring a boyfriend home when certain members of my family are around. And yeah, they'd make jokes behind my back. My little cousin is a bit effeminate (although he loves girls) and his own father made fucking jokes. It hurt the shit out of me to have to pretend to chuckle because I was still in the fucking closet, and even now, I can see the door in my peripheral vision.

It fucking hurts to be ostracized. It fucking hurts to have people feel it's okay to make fun of something you didn't choose, didn't vote to happen, and really can't do anything the fuck about. I'm not praying the gay away, but sometimes, it's hard not to want to.

So forgive me my fucking trespasses when I get a bit salty about faggot jokes. I'm glad you're more enlightened or whatever the fuck you want to call it, but frankly, some of us down in the fucking trenches are still trying to unpack all of their fucking baggage, and you're not helping.

Separating me out, saying that you can't do anything that might offend me, maybe, or else you'll have to write an essay?

Honestly, they could have just banned him, but they gave him a chance. Which is better?

This belief that simply because you are not offended is fucking galling to me. I would absolutely sandblast you, but honestly, I'm just tired.

The sheer hypocrisy of somebody deciding who and where everybody is gets offended is just as fucking terrible as the sheer hypocrisy of somebody deciding who and where everybody should not get offended.

You're no better, and in a lot of ways far worse then those Tumblr assholes who've decided every microaggression deserves redress. You've decided that no offense deserves redress, simply because you were unaffected.

You're just as hypocritical, and just as shitty, but it hurts just a bit more you're just one of the same shit I've been dealing with for the last decade or so - motherfuckers who want to tell me that what I feel and the way I want to live is wrong. That I shouldn't feel any certain way. That I should live more like them. You're just a new flavor of the same bullshit.

I'm pretty damn disappointed in you.

Saying the feeling is mutual is an understatement.
