I was on the verge of homelessness a month ago. I foresaw this a year ago and signed a lease at the cheapest rent I could find. Landlord was POC so I thought it'll go well.

My roommate turned out to be a hardcore MAGA. He was in debt and wasn't paying rent to the landlord so I thought he won't cause trouble. I was wrong.

It's not clear to me how much my landlord was involved, cz he never came clean to me. Always ambiguous answers and that I should relax and there is nothing.

I was looking for a tech job. First the roommate harassed me with hacking related conversations. Then over the winter break I drank too much and made noise in my room (throwing up and stuff). Next few days I heard the roommate chiseling my wall. I was convinced it was either a spy mic or cam or both. For months I tried to locate a hole in my wall but I didn't know these days spy cam only need a pin-sized hole, and record high-def video (and cost less than $100). Then a buddy of his moved in and started harassing me with car parking blocking my car all day. I was already not doing well mentally, I had a full-on psychotic breakdown.

I found a job and moved out, but I'll live for who knows how many months/years not knowing if he has embarrasing footage of me (like me jerking off in the privacy of my room), and will try to extort/blackmail in future.

I didn't go homeless, and didn't depend on the community helping me, but I didn't recover unscathed, got mentally effed by MAGA folks, a POC landlord was useless (in fact probably complicit), and I will spend the rest of my life waiting to get embarassed or blackmailed.

I have already started receiving scam calls a few times a day (through caller-id spoofing, the number is different everytime so can't block one or two numbers). I need to change my official phone number to prevent identity theft and credit fraud.
