A letter to Adam Savage

Hi Adam!

I'm the one who wrote this letter to you in the r/mythbusters subreddit, and had a chance to meet you and Jamie after the San Diego show during the meet and greet Q&A. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and you even took the time to speak to me for a few minutes after the allotted time for it. I thank you tremendously for that!

You told me to keep doing what I was doing, and I was extremely lucky and went viral with a few things that ended up being amazing for me. I was able to pay all my bills, get a nest egg, and if things keep going the way they are, I'll be in business for myself in a few months, creating things and doing what I love to do! I applied for an LLC just this past week!

Two things:

  • You've always been fascinated with props and creating things in general even before Mythbusters, and throughout the years you've never let go of that passion. What's the best advice you can give to people who love to create things in this way and want to persue it as a career? (I asked this question when you called on me in the middle of the show, but your answer was so great I would love for the other people here to hear it)

  • That gunblade I was telling you about is getting closer to being done! You said you'd love to sign it when it was finished, so I gave my contact info to one of your staffers, but nobody's gotten ahold of me :(

Regardless, thank you for helping to bring one of the best television shows of the last two decades to the air, and inspiring the passion for science, creativity, and learning that drive so many of us today. Loving what's been going on at Tested, and if you're ever giving another talk, doing a show, or appearing at a convention near me, I'll be as close to the first row as I can be :)
