Lewis Hamilton on the #blacklivesmatter movement and Formula1 silence. Thoughts?

Tbh, as a black man, I do not expect anyone from F1 to speak on the matter and I do not really desire them to do so. It does nothing for me, as I feel most, if not all of them, are about as far removed from black issues as they can be. And they're not American either. Whatever they'll have to say about it, will most likely be uneducated and a case of kicking in an open door like "I dislike racism". But you can't expect strong statements other than the condemnation of what's obviously a bad thing, because it's a divisive issue in a lot of places, but just not in F1, a pretty shielded place.

I expect Hamilton to speak on it, because he's black and has shown interest in the Afro-American community in the past. His word does have some value to me on this particular subject. But I don't expect let's say a Max Verstappen to have spent a moment of thought thinking about this particular subject matter. So I feel like others who are speaking now, are doing so because Hamilton is forcing their hand a bit and having people reiterate that they disapprove of black people getting killed through police brutality is a bit pointless to me. Like who cares what Charles Leclerc from Monte Carlo, Monaco has to say about riots with a racial undertone in the United States? What good would it do?
