Interesting question. Flair is a weird thing, and it's not entirely voluntary.

I have the "atheist" flair but I honestly despise that term. I would much rather have a "nonreligious" flair. But, that wasn't an option.

My own reason for having a flair at all is because I know a lot of folks mistakenly assume that this is a Christian forum, and so I want to be transparent about the fact that I'm not Christian.

My guess is, something similar is going on with LGBT folks. They realize that LGBT is something not typically associated with Christianity, so they want to make it clear, for the sake of transparency. But, that is just a guess. I suppose we will have to wait to see how they answer.
