Why do we lie to our kids?

Do you feel sad for all the cultures/religions in the world who don't perpetuate the myths or just for my kids, because I'm an American with the option? I assume you don't have any Jewish friends?

I grew up with the myths and didn't turn out to be a terrorist pedophile, so I don't think they're harmful in that regard. Being honest is a virtue, not a character flaw. I value critical thinking, rather than perpetuating cognitive dissonance. This isn't a negative think.

Also, describing what you're supposed to imagine doesn't spark imagination. I'm a graphic designer and have been illustrating all my life, so my kids with also be exposed to using their imaginations. My daughter has a big train set that she builds on her own, tons of dress up clothes, and 50 different ways to illustrate with crayons, colored pencils, chalk, paint, etc. We have play-doh and do fun experiments with corn starch and building sand castles as well.

Lastly, ignorance is bliss. You can't miss something you don't know you missed. My kids will still get presents, we put up a tree, hang lights, spend time with family, and eat good food.
