Limited options in operators for newcomers

Operators are expensive. Anything past 1000 renown and you're expected to grind.

True and (while nice) you don't have to play other ops. The initial selection of Pathfinder operators cater to a wide selection of different playstyles ie roamer, anchor, trap, intel/breach denial, hard/soft breach etc and are some of the best operators imo. Even after a year of playing and unlocking most ops I still play more Mute/Kapkan and Thermite/Thatcher/IQ than any other ops.

Plenty of MOBAs allow you to test out other characters via a free rotation

Some Pathfinder ops are featured in situations which could be viewed their trial, otherwise I agree it might be a nice feature to add (maybe into training grounds?). Alternatively maybe have all Pathfinder ops unlocked for standard release of the game, it won't help with the grind but will offer other ops to choose from.

Post release ops are usually a variation of previously existing op abilities/gadgets. Examples: Hibana/Ace are variations of Thermite. Maestro is an anchor (a la Rook) who's gadget is like a Twitch drone crossed with bulletproof cam. Ying is a two speed Fuze crossed with flashbangs.

Its been years since he games release and there's plenty of operator guides online (ie Gregor) who can give a rundown of each op, many will argue that you should be doing the research before buying but maybe UBI could add an op-vid before purchasing ops so that your educated on your purchase/how to play.
