[Lin] The Padres are the first team this season to win a game after trailing by six or more runs entering the seventh inning. They've played the most games of any team, and it does not feel like they should have 138 games left.

I do this professionally, and I can tell you that it’s really easy to misplace the decimal when dealing with such small percentages. The best thing to do is to take an answer you already know, then work out the process.

So you know that 5 out of 10 is 50%. The math is 5 divided by 10, which is 0.5, then you multiple it by 100, which is how you get to 50, or 50%. Another way of looking at it is that percent means 1/100th (which is really the “true” math here). Really, you’re taking 0.5 and dividing it by .01 or 1/100th, which again, is 50, or 50%.

So do the same here: 101 divided by (13,457+101) = 0.00745. There’s your decimal. So now you have to convert it into a percentage, in which case you have to multiple by 100 (or divide by 1/100). That gets you 0.745, AKA 0.745%.
