Lindsay Ellis: How Aladdin Changed Animation (by Screwing Over Robin Williams)

I can see that. The "expected" arc endings would have been more satisfying. Jon battling white walkers and killing the NK was the (expected) >> Arya killing the NK and the white walkers not fighting at all (maybe not subversive but unexpected)

Arya killing Cersei or Jamie killing Cersei >> Cersei being "buried" (she was near the top of the pile) by rubble

Jon taking command of Drogon (expected by me anyway) >> Drogon melting the throne and flying off with Daednarys

Anyone in the counsel but Bran becoming king/queen (even Edmure- at least he was the first to step up, why the hell was he comically shot down?) >> "I'm not really Bran anymore Meera" being king

The best subverted expectation I could think of would be for the Hound to slice Cersei in half as she slithered by him. "Fuck the queen". Then once he saw what his brother had become, he would follow the advice he gave Arya and walk away. Maybe become Sansa's guard.

Probably the biggest subversion was that in E6, all the good guys had a happy ending which is very unthroneslike. Greyworm went unpunished but he's like a side character. I didn't so much mind that it turned out that way. I heard a criticism that Greyworm should have killed Jon and Tyrion for regicide/treason but with Drogon gone, Greyworm needed bargaining chips if he wanted to avoid slaughter.

I'm just rambling. But you're right it might be a good top for a video essay even though it seems like a played out meme right now.
