Boycotting clothes and electronics made in sweatshops just makes things worse. By decreasing company profits you risk these poor desperate people losing their only jobs and being further marginalized. I do buy fair-trade whenever available however.

The same side-effect doesn't apply to meat. The meat industry is a matter of life and death. The notion of having my dog kept in a cage no bigger than his body for 23 hours day, living in its own shit, pumped with hormones, having its tail ripped off with no anastesia, beaten, slaughtered and consumed is viserally repulsive. I would do everything in my power to save my dog from these conditions

My vegetarianism is just applied moral consistency. I wouldn't tolerate this treatment for my dog, so why should I for other animals that are just as sentient?

I question where all my food comes from

I try to minimize my damage to this planet in ways that are possible, as long as they are feasbile. I cannot feasibly stop purchasing gasoline and still survive, because my livelihood and career depends on it. Same with paper. Either way, I don't place the same level of imminence and importance on these issues. This is an industry that is built upon the torture and slaughter of living creatures. I place the oppression of animals just below racism and sexism. While we need to slow down our devastation towards the environment, I prioterize creatures who are experiencing immense pain and suffering as I'm writing this.

We can survive perfectly without meat and it does not impede me from carrying out my life and making a living. If i had a medical condition which required me to consume meat, I would. In reality, meat consumption is luxury lifestyle that is not necessary for our survival. It's exists solely for our personal pleasure, at the expense of other living things.
