List of ways medical education does not care about our mental health.

Step 1 becoming pass/fail so abruptly is unfair to students that went into medical school knowing step 1 was a ticket to a good residency.

They determined step 1 would be pass/fail starting Jan 26th, 2022.

The problem you are probably missing is they announced this Feb. 12th, 2020.

Class of 2023 took a partial p/f step 1. They were M1s at the time and had no choice in the matter. Who knows what their match is going to be like with some of them having p/f and some having scores.

Class of 2024 takes step 1 p/f. They were admitted and accepted many before the decision was made.

If you failed a year as a class of 2022 or 2023 you are then pushed into p/f step 1.

I had a friend who was admitted spring semester at a Caribbean school where step 1 is dire for residency placement and then this news dropped on them.

My point that you missed in the InCus did not consider any of these potential scenarios and the negative effects it could have on students. They could've easily made it P/F after a few more years to ensure none of the above scenarios would occur. My point you missed is they dont care.
