Literally just a picture of the current AL East standings

I'm going to be the downer here and say that among the cream of the crop this season: LAD, NYY, HOU, MIN (and closeby ATL, CLE, etc.) we have the most worryingly inconsistent starting rotation outside of Tanaka.

Even with Tanaka you take the good with the bad -- mowing through 5 IP then giving up a big dong.

Will Paxton get back to 12 Ks?

Will German last?

Will CC or Happ show up?

Will Sevy be back? As a starter?

This team is so close to perfect that its been frustrating to see Cashman's long-term strategy with starters. If he pulled on some gambles instead of others we might have seen some combination of Verlander, Cole, Corbin, Sevy, Paxton, German, Lynn (2019). Instead we lost out gambling on Gray, Lynn (2018), Happ. Not saying any of these were obvious moves. Taking Sonny Gray was not a bad decision at the time. Neither was Happ over Lynn.
