I'm not sure I really agree with the "Don't watch the footage" sentiment that gets shared by everyone after something like this.

I understand the link between fame and potentially encouraging other shooters, but by encouraging everybody to remain ignorant about the reality of what happened, it just leads to people doing the useless "Thoughts and prayers" stuff and then forgetting about it entirely.

Whereas, when you're confronted with the specifics, you have a much deeper reaction to it and people are then more likely to actually do something to change things.

I'm not really sure what the answer is. I'm just not 100% sure that "Don't look at any photos or videos" is always the right message.
