Fire alarm mishaps happened a lot in a complex I lived in when I was younger. People would forget about something cooking and accrue a shit ton of smoke - and instead of venting it into the balcony everyone had, they'd vent it into the apartment hallway, and since the apartment was one big building, we had an internal fire detection system that would alarm the WHOLE COMPLEX if a hallway monitor smelled smoke. Many a night of wandering out of our apartment due to fire alarm and fire truck responses. Often we would go to a nearby restaurant and watch something on the outdoor telly, such as the wrestling reference you might've expected but didn't get just now, you know the one.
