US living in UK. I really want to renounce my citizenship to become British. Are my reasons silly or should I read up more?

Also agree with the previous commenter, I see no reason to renounce. Its just going to waste time & money for you.

And yes, filing can be confusing & frustrating, but it can be made much easier. First you just need someone to talk you through the very basics. I am not a tax professional, but I do know a fair bit about this stuff, and would be happy to help. More than willing to chat through things with you now over DM/comments here/email/whatever. Or, feel free to just bookmark my username and IM me when tax season starts in that case.

Once you have a basic understanding of things, you can then use something like IRS Free File to actually prepare and submit your return. The software there will do 95% of the work for you. It will literally be 30-90 minutes of your time each year (and not all of that in one sitting). And FYI, in exchange for that, our friends at the IRS will pay you +$1800 is stimulus credits this spring if you have already received them. And when/if you have kids, they'll start sending you an extra $1400 per year & kid in the form of refundable child tax credits.
