Oh man, I can't imagine that pain; definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place in that situation - have to choose between seeing nothing and potentially getting your eye taken out. You reminded me of a night ride with my dad and brother-in-law where it was rainy and i thought my visor was covered in water which i tried rubbing off and it just smeared. When we pulled over we took off our helmets to see there were like a hundred little flies smeared across our helmets. Right after we started to take off again, I had my visor partially up for a second so it wouldn't fog up without the wind and I got hit by another bug, in my eye, and my eye was in a ton of pain for the next 30-45 minutes with nowhere good to stop. I was in the middle and once we pulled into a little town, I managed to get them to pull over and i got to mess with it. Two days of riding (and a super red eye) later, we pulled into a gas station because my eye was bothering me and I went to the bathroom to flush it out, when an insect's wing managed to come out of my eye. So relieving, but also made me worried there was more there! I too learned a lesson about riding with my visor up a bit, even for a short time, especially at night!
