Local high school football players kicked off team after protest during anthem

I hate trump, I hate T_D, but don't they have a point? What has this "protesting" even become? The message has gotten so buried underneath the pop culture bonanza this whole thing has turned into that it seems more of an "in-crowd" thing to participate in the kneeling rather than actually trying to affect change in America.

When the conversation is literally all about the protest itself and no mention of the underlying reason for the protest, in what sense is there any efficacy to continuing the protest? There literally hasn't been any mention in the media that the protest began over police violence against blacks for a very long time. So while I respect their right to continue to kneel during the anthem, it has become an entirely ambiguous protest, the message has been lost, and as such it seems people are not respecting the anthem just to protest the President. I'm pretty open minded, but that seems pretty petty and disrespectful to the nation just because her figurehead is a boob.
