I really don’t like this take. How lame were we to other teams when cheese heads became a thing? How about selling “shares” of the Packers? We still get roasted for both, but Teams’ deep seeded traditions used to be new at one point in time. The Vikings are Vikings. Of course they are going to take something from Iceland, you think the Icelandic soccer team came up with their crap out of thin air? As for Seattle, I think it’s really cool that they retired a number for the fans. Was it a marketing ploy? Hell yeah, they were a new franchise and needed to do something to get people on board. Now they have a jersey literally for fans. Everyone has a “12th man”. They’re the fans, Texas was just the first to coin it for marketing purposes. Then you have a literal NFL team stealing a college team’s mascot (Longhorns). Need the buy in from fans to keep afloat, or else they’ll fail. It isn’t lame it isn’t corny, it is just marketing.
