In London I saw a man approach a woman in a burka to tell her we don't cover our faces in British culture

Why should 'migrants' be encouraged to speak English publicly?

Because...It's...The UK? I mean, when in Germany, I speak German. When in France, I speak French. When in Italy, I speak Italian, and on the few occasions that I've been to Egypt, Kuwait etc. I've tried to learn Arabic to the point that I can at least say hello, order food and thank properly as opposed to just defaulting to English. I mean...I don't really understand why you find the concept of common courtesy and social inclusion to be so offensive.

Have you considered that there's a huge possibility that you might actually be a part of the problem? For example, around Europe I find a far easier time is had by trying to at least communicate and show them I'm making an effort. The point is not to be fluent - the point is to show that you're trying to be a part of society, and simply flat out refusing to talk in anything but your mother tongue does nothing to get backs up. Your permissiveness is, using terms of what invariably can be called your groupthink, is enabling.

However, if you kick off because you hear a foreign language you are a fucking idiot.

Where in any of my statements have I suggested I'd kick off. Please. Show me. That's not what I've suggested at all.

Students have been attacked for speaking Spanish on the phone to their mums for fuck sake, there is nothing wrong with that or any other public use of non-English languages (some of which are indigenous to this country) and if anyone has a problem with it then they should keep it to themselves.

Well done, for entirely misunderstanding everything I've said. I never said that people shouldn't speak their own languages - but when entire communities are being set up that essentially isolates said community because they have no part of British society, it causes problems. The solution is to import more foods that they'd eat into tesco (for example) - to employ more of them (for example) and integrate migrants (for example).

But you go right ahead, fly off the handle and sit there behind your keyboard in your self righteous indignation and brand me a bigot. Whatever helps you sleep at night chief.
