Cope? Start loving yourself. Start exercising, watch a tv show, play videogames, learn a new skill. Be comfortable around yourself and enjoy the things you like to do and some people might come over and take you on as a friend.

If you've got problems that need unloading, it's always nice to do something else and not think about it for a while or seek professional help. Besides, even with friends chances are that not everyone wants to be someone else's therapist all the time either because they can't relate, can't help, or can't be bothered.

You have to learn to process your problems on your own in private.

On the other hand, I think you pretty much answered your question already. Lack of friends is answered by finding and getting friends. To get friends means having to endure the process of being lonely for long periods until the right one comes along. Until then, get a hobby, take a walk, and don't despair.
