Loners of Reddit, what was your way of dealing with loneliness as a kid that you didn't realise until you grew up?

Really strong bonds with animals. Everyone in my life always commented growing up how all of my family’s pets only listened to me, or if I visited someone’s house their pets always tended to gravitate to me. Truth is, our pets always listened to me growing up because I was always the one home alone out of the four siblings on weekends/week nights. This meant I spent most of my time with them and worked on their training and was generally in charge of most of their care because I was home the most. You tend to have strong bonds with animals when everyone else is off doing something with their friends and you don’t have anyone to hang out with on the weekends except your family dogs.
