Long Beach Parking Enforcement, AMA

Hello ginny. Nice to chat with you!

I'm SO familiar with the various ways this issue affects us. In front of my home we have an unmarked space that COULD fit two vehicles, but which a lot of jerks park dead center of which, of course, is a pain in the neck because then someone will try to "fit" in which will leave them hanging out in front of my driveway. I don't want to "gotcha" anyone. I just want people to park in a normal way that's good for everyone!!!

Another thing people love to do in my neighborhood is to park perpendicular to the sidewalk, blocking the sidewalk. Drives me nuts! When I'm walking my dogs I shouldn't have to detour off the sidewalk onto the street because you don't respect the sidewalk! That's how it is in third world countries! (Ask me how I know!)

Little side note: Are boats allowed to park backwards? I have a neighbor who spent a couple of years taking up two street spaces in front of his house with a boat, parked backward, and moved every street sweeping so it never got street sweeping tix.

I think the parking enforcement didn't like it (for whatever their own reasons, I never complained, don't know if anyone else ever did...) because I saw them chalking the ground around the boat's trailers a couple of times, etc.

Long story short, I haven't seen the boat in a while, and I don't know if that's because it's being sailed around or docked, or whatever.

But, out of curiosity if that thing comes back again: If a normal car would get a ticket for parking "backward" why would a boat be allowed to park backward on a residential street taking up two parking spots?

Anyway, thanks for checking in!
