As a long-time Apple fanboy, even I have to finally admit MacBooks are overpriced

Here's the way I see things... I kind of want to upgrade my laptop for the sake of upgrading it, so there's no real rush to make a decision. I'm sort of in "no man's land" when it comes to Windows vs Apple laptops.

When I look at Windows laptops, there always seems to be at least one thing that kills it for me... I mean, I could be shitty speakers, it could be a suspect touch pad, some of them develop weird stuff on screens within months, some of them have coil whine, and so on. There's always SOMETHING that I know will ruin my user experience. I'd gladly give up some performance for all those issues go away...

So naturally, I turn to Apple for this... But it's not like you're just giving up some performance... you also get rocked by a pretty damn serious premium. It's not $200-$300 more, it's $500+ more... and, currently, you're not giving up just "some" performance, you're going a generation of processors behind.

Oh well... I'll just wait until my laptop kicks it... and then I'll go with a miracle Windows computer with no massive issues if it's somehow out by then. If it's not, Apple refurb it is.
