Longer term players : league goals & motivation

I've been playing since Prophecy league (2.6). I have no interest in Standard whatsoever. I've deleted 4 HHs and several actual mirrored pieces that I mirrored in a league.

The incentive to play at the beginning of each league is simple: there is a lot of $$ to be made because of all the players. The economy in this game is by far the most interesting out of any game I have ever played.

Like you mentioned though, once you have your build, what reason to farm currency? Roll alts who can do the exact same thing but in a slightly different or faster way? Yeah that sounds pretty boring to me too, and so PoE has become a game I play off and on over the year instead of constantly, and I am OK with that.

The game has, however, become a bit boring after 4 years when I play solo, so much that I started playing leagues a lot less until I got my wife back into the game with me (she played 2.7-3.0 with me). Last league we played together and now this league. One of us plays support ( we rotate that roll) and as a duo we are able to absolutely crush content that we otherwise would not have been able to do given gear levels.

We've do fun shit like full support curse bot specifically geared towards lowering cold resist for perma freeze on all bosses, or an aura support designed to fit with a specific carry/skill in mind. You can get a lot more bang for your buck that way instead of trying to do a season-all support who has to carry flavor for anyone they might be supporting.

Once the aura stacking is nerfed (and rest assured it will be) our combos will become even stronger because those less inexperienced players who are cheesing through content will not be able to do so while we continue to.

My suggestion is to find a partner or team you can rely on. We've been wanting a third for our team but our play-time is spotty between work and kids. Grandma as a baby-sitter is great for the opening weekend though. :)
