Looking for a Gutenberg block creation tutorial

That was the wrong question to ask if that's what you were attempting to do. Firstly, it came across as sarcastic, then it made you look like you didn't read my post, because I explained what I did, and finally, it made you sound like you didn't know what you were talking about because clearly, block code does not have to live in a plugin.

Block code does have to live in a plugin. You are doing it wrong. This is not up for debate, it is not a choice. I am telling you the right vs. the wrong ways here. I do not understand why this is such an issue for you, but you are wrong. Period.

I know what separation of content and presentation is. I have been a professional developer since the early 90s.

And you're still wrong. This whole conversation, you have been wrong. Look, guy, you can write whatever shitty code you like, but your shitty code theories should not be propagated to the masses.

We clearly see blocks as different entities, and there's probably nothing wrong with that.

There absolutely is something wrong with that. You're seeing it wrong, you're doing it wrong, stop being so wrong.

I see blocks as their output, I mean, THAT is the point of a block, to present stuff in a specific way. You seem to see them as the interface that allows that. The truth is in the middle somewhere, I'm sure.

No. No. No. The truth is what I am telling you. I don't understand your resistance here. I have told you how it actually is. I can speak with authority on this matter. Blocks are not content, blocks are interfaces. Themes are going away in favor of block based design. This is the future. Please stop arguing and pay attention and I will literally predict the future for you. It's not that complicated.

This leads to a community mentality that everything should be a plugin, and that's just not right.

Everything should be a plugin, because themes will cease to exist in about 4 or 5 years.

Honestly, I can't be bothered with the rest of your comment. The simple fact is that you see what I'm talking about, but refuse to listen and thus acknowledge the truth of the matter. You're building code that belongs in the past, and I'm up here trying to pull you into the present and make you make future compatible code. It's too much, friend. So you just continue building code for last decade, I'm moving on now.
